The origin of our company dates back over 50 years. Since that time we have grown to a full service Insurance and Life, Health, and Benefits Planning organization doing business nation-wide. We offer all types of insurance coverage including personal, commercial and life and health products. Our associates are able to provide clients with the most comprehensive and individualized service available at the most competitive prices.
We provide coverage ranging from an individual’s car and homeowners to business accounts with multiple locations coast to coast. Our commercial accounts include both private and public corporations. We also have a division exclusively for Financial Institution accounts. The products offered are specifically designed for Banks and Mortgage Lenders including Lender Placed Insurance programs. In addition, we have specialty programs for those unique situations allowing us to customize your complete insurance portfolio. At the base of our success is our professional staff. They keep up to date on new products through continuing education and guarantee friendly and efficient account handling.
The agency is very visible in both the industry and community with numerous achievement awards to its credit. We are very proud to have been featured in numerous publications over the years. The principals of the agency include Steven Spiro, David Spiro and Lane Rubin. All have several distinctions in common: each has been elected by peers to be the president of a state or regional professional insurance association; each has fought for regulatory and legislative protections for the consumer in the insurance process; and each has specialized in the provision of a different aspect of coverage.
Steven J. Spiro, CLU, ChFC
Steven began his insurance career as a Field Representative for the Guardian Life Insurance Company in 1979 and attained both his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. He later joined Spiro Risk Management, Inc. and remained there for almost 30 years until the establishment of The Excelsior Group, Inc. In addition to managing the agency, he spends much of his time developing Financial Service and Employee Benefit programs.
Steven has served on the National Board of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association of America as well as their Healthcare Task Force and Professional Liability Committees. He is a Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association of New York and a past Governor of the New York District of Key Club International. In addition to offering testimony on insurance issues on numerous occasions both in New York State and before Congress, he has been honored with many awards of distinction by the insurance industry at the local and state levels. In addition, he currently serves as President of the Five Towns Community Chest and on the Board of Trustees of Temple Beth El in Cedarhurst.
